Echocardiographic Analysis of Cardiac Performance due to Anesthetics

Abstract
Techniques that do not involve placement of a catheter into a cardiac chamber or great vessel are called "non-invasive". They have been used largely for diagnostic purpose, but offer an enormous potential for evaluation of physiologic performance during acute perturbations induced by anesthetics, operation and acute illness.
Recently, echocardiography has been used in a assessing the hemodynamic effects of anesthetic agent on the cardiovascular system, since the technique is accurate, painless, and without known risk.
